After passing a round of inspections on Thursday, Cheesie's Pub & Grub owner Chris Johnston said he hopes the Wicker Park location of his popular Lakeview grilled cheese spot could open between Christmas and New Year's Day. Johnston's neighboring bar, Whiskey Business, would open a few days later at 1365-67 N. Milwaukee Ave. The project was first announced in 2013.
Whiskey Business is a riff on the 1980s Tom Cruise movie "Risky Business," and so the space features 1980s/1990s theme, trying to endear customers with music and anything else that guests age 25 to 35 grew up with, Johnston added. He wants to host movie trivia nights on Tuesdays. They'd play a movie in the bar and then quiz teams after the flick on plot points, characters' clothing and other tidbits.

Whiskey Business Goes Totally Retro in Wicker Park
The companion to Cheesie’s leans heavily on ’80s and ’90s nostalgia.

If the name didn’t tip you off, Whiskey Business (1365 N. Milwaukee Ave., Wicker Park) has a serious affinity for the retro, particularly the ’80s and ’90s. The bar’s lit up with neon blue and pink LED lights, vintage lunchboxes adorn tables, and even the bathroom signs use images from era-appropriate TV shows.
Pop over to the bar (for now, heavy on the cocktails, but soon to include several kinds of spiked slushies) and nab one of the spot’s branded slap bracelents, which will give you 10 percent off your order on subsequent visits.
After two years of anticipation, Whiskey Business, an '80s- and '90s-themed companion to Cheesie's Pub & Grub, plans to open Friday and serve stuffed burgers and french fry entrees topped with BBQ pork and jambalaya, among several options.
